Longview ISD's Hudson PEP School, an elementary magnet school, was recognized by the Texas Education Agency as an exemplary school in 1997 and 1998. This is the fourth time for PEP School to be recognized since the TEA program was initiated.

In addition to offering a basic education program, PEP offers enrichment of the academics with an optional after-school schedule.

Students from all over the district may apply to attend Hudson. The school features a differentiated program for students who exhibit a combination of traits: average or above average achievement, innate ability, and commitment to task.

Entrance criteria for students includes functioning at or above grade level as demonstrated on achievement and aptitude tests.
