National recognition for students continues as fourteen Longview High School students were recognized in the 1997-98 program by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their high scores on the PSAT/NMSQT.

Six students were National Merit semi-finalists, seven were commended students, and one was named an achievement program commended student. Five were finalists.

The district received word in September, 1998 that five students were semi-finalists and nine were commended in the 1998-99 program.
