The Longview High School band program is unmatched. In 1995, the band garnered its 29th consecutive Texas Sweepstakes Award, the highest awarded to public school bands.
In order to attain the Sweepstakes Award, a band must make a first division rating in marching, concert performance, and sight reading.
The LHS band has won the UIL Marching first division for 46 consecutive years.
The band wins a first division each year at the National Association of Military Marching bands held at Texas A & M University.
Other national awards have been received at the Virginia Beach Festival, the Smokey Mountain Music Festival and the All-American Music Festival in Orlando, Florida.
