Marshall is blessed to be home to four (4) major schools of higher learning, which is truly unique for a community our size. In addition to the college/university units, Marshall enjoys a strong commitment to education from the Elementary level through High School.

The Marshall Independent School District (MISD) covers a large portion of Harrison County and supplies an extremely high level of K-12 education. The MISD utilizes state of the art instructional equipment and methods, and in many cases has been on the cutting edge of new and innovative ideas.

The MISD has also taken a leadership roll on the information highway with a full T-1 internet access line in operation for interactive instructional use.

There is also very high involvement in student activities for all recognized sports, music, and student supported organizations. Marshall's students' team sports and activities are consistently rated in the top elite throughout this huge state.

Marshall students have always scored high on SAT and ACT tests for similar rated communities. The district further enjoys a high rate of graduating students. As important, is the fact that graduating seniors from Marshall are consistently better prepared for the college environment or immediate involvement in the local work force.
