The Pine Tree ISD is one of three school districts serving Longview, a city of 75,000 in the center of northeast Texas. Longview is located on I-20, approximately 120 miles from Dallas and 60 miles from Shreveport, Louisiana. District enrollment is approximately 5,000 students in grades pre-K through 12.
Organization of the school system is that of only a few districts in Texas. With the exception of the high school, which houses the top three grades, each school contains one or two grades, grouping students whose ages complement each other.
Pine Tree schools are nationally recognized for excellence, and students excel each year on college entrance exams and other standardized tests. Pine Tree High School, Pine Tree Junior High, and Pine Tree Middle 6/7 and Pine Tree Middle 5/6 are U. S. Department of Education BLUE RIBBON Schools.
Pine Tree ISD has been recognized by School/Match, an organization that helps to relocate business and industry, for being a district that offers what parents want in a public school.
