This exhibit, named the "Blowhole" of Knowledge, was created by 34 fourth grade gifted-talented students at Pine Tree Intermediate School in Longview, Texas.
The students completed an independent study/research project on a chosen species of whale or whale-related topic.
The students were assigned to communicate what they had learned to others through an exhibit format.
The exhibit, which was attended by more than 800 students and adults, consisted of display boards, murals, listening centers, original games, computer programs, electric matching game boards, and models of various whales.
The choice of whales as our research topic stems from our study of "The Voyage of the Mimi", multimedia curriculum materials that utilize video, computer software, science interfaces, and printed materials for an integrated approach for learning math and science.
Following are a few selections from the myriad of whale web sites. Bon voyage and happy whale watching!
